Slider

World > Games > Slider.

It's simple enough in theory - you can start a new game by clicking the "New Game" button, at which point you're presented with a 4x4 grid with 15 "tiles". Slider works like a jigsaw puzzle - the goal is to rearrange (or "slide") each of the tiles around until you recreate the original picture. The white square in the grid represents an empty tile slot, and you can click any of the adjacent tiles in order to "slide" it into that slot.

Keep in mind that this is the kind of game that you get much better at with PRACTICE! So throw yourself at it a couple of times and don't lose heart if you're a bit slow to begin with. You can also exit the page and come back to the game any time - your current Slider puzzle will never disappear unless you start a new game.

Currently there are three different slider puzzles available. You can see them below in their completed states (click to full view).

For the unfamiliar to the game, here are the steps I take to solve a slider in full. There're probably better ways to go about it, but this is what I worked out ten years ago when I was a wee child with nothing but a pile of puzzles and books :P

First, start a new game!

From this grid, comparing it to the original image, you can pick out the first row.

Note that if you ever have trouble picking out which square is which, you can right click on each square and look at the properties. The image will be titled square00.png, where 00 is the square number, from left to right, top to bottom.

Now that we've found the first row, let's click around. You should be able to manage getting the three first tiles together...

You've almost got a row! Shuffle it around and move that tile out of the way...

And park the finished row in the space! Yay!

This can be rinsed and repeated! When you hit the last row, you might get a situation like this...

A bit of a dilemma. This can be easily remedied by more shuffling, though. We want 15 to be on the other side of 13 and 14, so...

Cycle the last two rows around, making sure to keep everything in order.

Eventually, an opening shows up on the other side of 13+14 where you can slot the 15 in.

... You can start cycling the two rows back the other way now.

Yay!

Note that Slider now rewards 1AT in addition to TC.

Each Slider puzzle takes me about 90 seconds. Keep plugging at it and you'll get faster and more move-efficient, which means... More TC! Yay!
