September 23, 2009:
A quick update, and summary on what has been happening with Tygras:
Late Tuesday night, or early Wednesday morning, the Tygras' server/hosting company went offline. Since Julia was on vacation at the time (Wednesday - Saturday), and since I only have access to the database, we were unable to file a ticket with the server/hosting company until Sunday. We have received numerous responses from the company, but they have been very slow in getting the site back online.
On behalf of the administrative team, I apologize to all of you for the week-long downtime. Please continue to check the Tygras Database on a daily basis to find out the latest information. Since everything is offline at the moment, it is my understanding that your Tygras will not give birth, grow older, be sold/traded, etc. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post them in the chatbox below, or e-mail me (mail@silverkinz.com).

The user shop tutorial has been added! :D I'm hoping to make some big changes to the DB tomorrow... I'll post via Twitter about half an hour before I'm ready to show you guys what I've been working on. ;)

Angel wings for all three species have been added to the Markings guides. All three hairstyles for the Lymber have been added to the Lymber Markings guide as well. The FAQ is currently under construction, but you should still be able to read the questions and answers. :) If you can't see the answer, that's because you have to click on the question!

My summer goals for the TygrasDB -
1. Re-vamp the FAQ. True, just about any question you could have regarding Tygras is available on that page, but it's sooo looong. I also want to make questions/answers expandable/collapsable.
2. MANY more tutorials. That way, newbies won't have to shuffle through the FAQ to find one very simple (and obvious) answer. Or maybe the re-vamp for the FAQ will fix this problem. :P
3. Add to the resources page. I see so many wonderful photos, both for reference and stock purposes, every day. I want you guys to know about these amazing resources as well!
I'm sure there will be more to come, but that's just to give you guys an idea of what I have in store for the TygrasDB. <3 We recently achieved 50,000 hits! That is truly amazing for the fansite of a pet site with a mere membership of 6000 or so accounts. Thank you to EVERYONE for continuing to visit.

Pika (#553)'s cub has been born, so we can now confirm that breeding an invisible Tygra with a normal Tygra will NOT result in invisible offspring. The items guide has been updated to reflect this discovery.

The effect of the Black Mew Berry has been revealed (way to go, Pika #553, for being so brave and using it before its official release!). If you don't want the surprise to be spoiled for you, don't look at the Items guide just yet. Otherwise... view away! :D

The Breeding and Pregnancy tutorial has been updated yet again, this time to clarify where the cub(s) is/are sent after a tygra gives birth. The Black Mew Berry has also been added to the Items guide. Too bad nobody knows what it does yet. XD

The Breeding and Pregnancy tutorial has been updated to include the possible breeding combinations and outcomes between the three species. Ocilynx is the most dominant, Pygmy is in the middle, and Lymber is the most recessive.

My apologies for not updating sooner... this Memorial Day weekend has been hectic, to say the least. The new Chipmunk and Swirl markings for all three species, as well as item previews for the Leprecat Plush, Gold Bling, and Silver Bling, have been added to the Guides page. :D Enjoy!

It seems I'll do anything, including remodeling the Resources page, if it means I get to procrastinate on studying for three midterms for another hour or so. D: There are still many species that are missing, as far as stock photos and reference photos go, but I like how the 150x100 thumbnails look, centered in their section like that. :D I'm choosing the best photos I can find, trying to come up with mixes of face, body, and cub shots. Obviously, with the less-known species, like the Fishing Cat, I won't have the opportunity to post as many high-quality photos. :(

Just a quick update. :) The About page has been edited to include the new item artist, Slash (#5)! :D So there are now six active staff members on Tygras: Julia (#1, owner), Emily (#2, co-owner), Nasire (#3, programmer), Quinnick (#4, item artist), Slash (#5, item artist), and Silver (#11, moderator).

Item previews for the Lucky Clovers have been added! :D I'd also like to take a moment to let everyone know that this is "finals week" for me, also known as "study-until-you-drop" week. After that, I will be on vacation for a week, but I will still have some internet access. I will be back to my usual activity level starting on March 30th. Feel free to message me with thread closing requests, DB comments/tips, etc., just know that I will only be online once a day and will not be able to monitor the chat room for several hours a day like I usually do. :( So make use of that "Report" feature at the bottom of every Tygras page! ;D

Withheld (#62) has written an AMAZING Slider tutorial! :o It's been added to the Tutorials section of the DB, and can also be found in Tygras' "Games and Contests" forum. I was horrible at this game, but now... not so much so. XD And guess what? You get 1 AT for every Slider game you win! :o That alone should be motivation enough to learn how to play the game! Item previews for all ten new items (Classy/Native sets, as well as Flames and Pet Turtle) have been added, for both the Ocilynx and Pygmy species!

I have added tutorials for Activity Tokens (AT) and the Anagram and Explore games. I am still working on the Slider tutorial... not very good at that game, so I might ask another Tygras member to write it for the DB. :P

Once again, I apologize for not posting anything new as of late. D: Lots and LOTS of schoolwork... I've been putting all my spare Tygras-related time into moderating instead of working on the DB. BUT! I have a few tutorials in mind, and I'd like to get them written up tonight. <3
In addition, I'd like to take a moment to thank Nasire for offering to host the Tygras Database on her website's hosting service! As some of you may know, the DB has experienced some considerable bouts of downtime over the past three weeks. When you have anywhere between 500-1000 hits per day, and you are the #1 Tygras fansite, that is simply unacceptable; however, with this new (paid) hosting service, and some new tools for uploading DB content installed on my computer, keeping you guys up-to-date on Tygras happenings should be easier and faster than ever! :D

I have added the new items that can be won via spending your AT on "exploring": Pink Mew Berry, Purple Mew Berry, and the top and bottom portions of a broken Pygmy key (what a waste... I wonder if it can be fixed?). The rest of the AT info, including a list of the possible events, will have to wait until tomorrow... I am TIRED. D: Internship went for way longer than I expected tonight. But I'll be up first thing in the morning! :D

The DB has been updated! :D If you find any broken links, please post in the chat box below. The most important things to note would be: 1) The addition of the Tygras Genomics Institute in the links section, and 2) The separation of tutorials onto their own pages, vs. being squished all onto one page. :D Hopefully this will make the site look much more organized than it was before.

Today is "Proof-read the DB" day! :D With all the changes that have occured as of late, I will be spending the day going through every single page on the TygrasDB and making whatever changes are necessary. Not just updating pages, but re-organizing them a bit as well, to make them easier to read. :) Please bear with me if some things are wrong, by tomorrow the site should be back on track!

Quick update tonight. I have added the TygrasWiki to the links page. There isn't much at the moment, but it should prove to be a very useful source in the future. :) There are two new tutorials, written by your fellow members (Remarkable #27, and Jenny #61)! :D One is on breeding and pregnancy times, while the other is on how to get your first tygra. Just to let you guys know, the tutorials page WILL be edited tomorrow to look more like the guides page (where you have to click on the link to see the information, versus being directed further down the page). Some of the guides will also be updated and elaborated upon.

I cannot even begin to tell you how sorry I am that the DB went down for the past 14 hours. :( I realized about 6 hours into the downtime what had happened, so I filed a ticket. I guess that my (free) hosting service doesn't answer e-mails at 2 AM their time... but, the DB is back up now. :) I'll probably end up posting the FAQ in a sticky, just in case the DB does go down again, so that everyone can view it directly on Tygras.com!

Fell a bit behind this week with the items guide, because I wanted to get the FAQ guide posted before opening day. :P However, thanks to some poking and prodding by Miho, I've added ALL known items to the Items guide (including the new Pearl and Diamond items, the new Pirate items, the new Love Vial, the new Heart of Gold Locket, AND the unreleased items! Quite a bit to look at... enjoy!

After a countless number of brain-frying, butt-numbing hours (from sitting in front of the computer for so long), I've finally completed the FAQ guide! :o It would have taken much, much longer, had it not been for Becky, Jenny, Nasire, and Trinity helping me answer all of those questions I typed up several days ago! :P I hope that this guide will be especially helpful for all the new members joining Tygras on Sunday! Check it out under the "Guides" section! ;)

I apologize for the ridiculous number of updates yesterday... I was just so excited to have gotten so much done this weekend! :P Anyway, you can now find the beginnings of the genetics tutorial in the Tutorial section. ;) In addition, the new petal spots marking has been added to the Ocilynx and Pygmy markings guides. I have also included a link to "Tygra Dreams", a small forum run by Bella (#114). It may not have much now, but the staff members are planning a Valentine's Day event, as well as other contests and games in the future, so it's worth taking a look at. :D

The entire Items guide has been remodeled! :D I hope that you guys like the new look... I definitely do! Eventually, I'll create the option of sorting items based on where they can be worn on a Tygra's body, or based on what shops sell what items, but for now, it'll just be based on alphabetical order. A new feature for the Items guide: descriptions (written by yours truly) as to what the item actually does! :) I now have all three Halo thumbnails and previews, if you would like to take a look; unfortunately, I don't know what the Female and Fertility halos do yet, so if you know, feel free to post in the chat box below, or message me on Tygras, or e-mail me! :) There will be much, much more in the days to come... keep watching this page for the latest updates, and let's see if we can get to 2000 hits by opening day! ;D Hits have already skyrocketed since the friend invites option was added yesterday.
EDIT: Yes, I realize that some items are missing at the moment. That is because they are either released yet unable to be equipped, or I have the thumbnails/previews but the items haven't been released yet. I will add these items over the next day or two. :) My priority was to get the functional items out first.

Item previews for the Female, Fertility, and Gender Halos have been added to the Guides page (I still need the actual item image, though, so if you guys have one of these halos, please post the image link in the shoutbox below, or message me on Tygras)! :D Keep an eye on the TygrasDB over the next week... I plan to re-organize the website somewhat in preparation for the public opening of Tygras.com! Get ready for the flood of members that will be joining our community on February 15th!

My apologies for not updating sooner, but this quarter has been buuuuusy. Four courses, plus part-time work, plus an internship, equal very little time to myself. :( BUT, I haven't forgotten about the DB, nor have I forgotten about the CONTEST! :D I'll be picking a winner soon, as well as holding the raffle for the free tags (drawn by yours truly ;D). So far, there hasn't been nearly as much participation as I would have hoped, but that's probably just because we're still in alpha mode. :P SPEAKING OF WHICH, Tygras will officially open to the public on February 15th! Exciting, eh? :) Besides a change here and there, nothing new to report tonight for the DB; however, I will begin to build off of a Tygras member's idea (submitted via the contest), and will have it ready by the time Tygras.com goes public (it should also save Julia and Nasire a lot of time and energy, haha!).

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 8D My sincerest apologies to everyone for the lack of updates. :( My computer does not seem to like being home nearly as much as I do. D: My internet is INCREDIBLY SLOW. It took forever and a day just to get to this website to submit an update. SO. I will continue to work on various things for the DB, and will add them once I'm back at school... that would be January 6, 2009 (isn't it fun to type/write/say "2009"? :P). LOOK FORWARD TO THAT UPDATE! I have a thing or two planned in celebration of the DB receiving 1000+ hits. :3

Happy holidays, my fellow Tygrans! :D I am finally back from vacation, and will be slowly updating the DB over the next week. For today, I have only updated two things: time zone information for Tygras.com, and work experience information. The new mutations/markings, as well as the beginnings of a genetics tutorial, will be added with the next update. :)

Another fun event or two have been added to the Events Guide. I especially like the Key Event. ;D The Items Guide has been revamped. Frankly, I became irritated with the way items were set up initially, so I'm currently working on arranging items based on whether or not they are wearable/non-wearable/unreleased, and if they are wearable, where on the body they can be placed. :P All item previews have been added! I'll be editing the "Error" page later today... of course the Non-Wearable and Unreleased items don't have item previews. :P
December 10, 2008:
A few things have been added/changed this morning. :) Tygras' time zone has been identified in the "About" section. I've also included a link to help you determine how many hours ahead/behind you are compared to Tygras' time zone. An events guide has been created. It is currently a work in progress, because we are constantly discovering new events every day! :D A few item previews have been added (Blue Cloak, Metallic Blue Eyeshadow, Blue and Green Leggings, Chunky Monkey Toy, and Diamond Wand). I encountered a problem with some of the overlays, so I am holding off on the rest of the item previews until I can get some answers from Nasire or Quinnick. The "Work" tutorial has now become the "Tygra Cash (TC)" tutorial, and includes other methods for earning TC! ;D Definitely read up on that tutorial if you're looking to earn $1200 by Saturday in order to snag a key! Lastly, a hit counter has been added to the bottom of this page. :P It has actually been keeping track of visitors since the DB's grand opening over a month ago, but I just now decided to add a visual counter. :3 Isn't it amazing how many hits this fansite has received in such a short amount of time?! 8D A HUGE thank-you to everyone for all of your support and feedback in the making of the TygrasDB. Seriously, you guys rock. <3

My sincerest apologies for the downtime yesterday. My hosting service was having trouble with one of its servers. :( Important change to the account tutorial: HTML is no longer allowed in display/den names. There is still a 25-character limit for both. And an equally important change to the tag tutorial: Tags can now be up to 120x120 pixels in size. I will be adding a bit of information to the tutorials already listed on the DB, but nothing really new (like item previews) will be posted until tomorrow, due to a final exam/work for several hours.

Well, I was hoping to have all of the item previews ready for you guys before heading off to work... but at this rate, it doesn't look like I will have them available until tomorrow. :( Sorry about that. However, I do have ALL of the markings for both the Ocilynx and Pygmy species available for non-alpha members! :D So if you'd like to take a look at those, go to Guides > Markings. I've also added some info to the Account tutorial that explains how to change the color of your display/den names; however, there is the possibility of HTML being disabled for display/den names in the near future, due to potential abuse (ex. obscenely large font, images, etc. that would stretch the profile/forum pages).

Tygras.com is finally open to alpha testers! :D Over the next 48 hours, I will be updating the site constantly with how-to guides and tutorials (with lots and lots of images for those of you who are regular members). Please bear with me, as I DO have a part-time job AND finals to study for. :P So I may be a bit behind the official admin announcements... but everything WILL get posted in a timely manner. Feel free to e-mail me if you wish to submit any useful information. ;)
Edit (10 AM): I have added all items to the Guides page, and will re-categorize them as more information is obtained. I have also added two Tutorials: Account Setup, and Work. If you want to start earning money right away, be sure to read up on that! :D I have to go to sleep now (I'm 8 hours behind Tygras-Time, so it's 2 AM where I live), but I will be sure to add some more information before heading off to work tomorrow... please feel free to e-mail any information you believe should be added to the DB.
Edit (8 PM): Currently creating item previews for the Ocilynx species. ;) You can click on the items in the Guides section to see what they would look like on your Tygra! :D Previews added: Armor (Body, Bracers, and Helmet). I currently cannot add the Armor (Haunchplate and Tail) previews, because they are not available in the shops yet. :P But as soon as overlays become available, they will be added to the DB, no worries! :3

Hello, everyone! :D It's been a while... but Nasire has been working hard to wrap up all of Tygras.com's programming, and we should see a grand opening soon enough! :) I know that it's been said many times before, but I did a bit of testing on my end for Nasire, and I can assure you that everything is looking better and better every day! <3 Little tweaks here and there really do make a world of difference. Unfortunately, I cannot share any screenshots with you at this time... once the website is officially opened to alpha testers, however, I will begin creating various guides and tutorials for those of you who must wait for the public opening. I'll include lots of screenshots, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. :3
Edit: I'm experimenting around with the resources page at the moment. So please don't be concerned if some images appear, then disappear, I just need to compare various sized thumbnails. :P
Edit 2: Decided to stick with x-links for now. Thumbnails make the page look messy. :o

Edit: Phew! I've been so busy with midterms and my part-time job that I've hardly had time to work on the TygrasDB until today... but WOW, do I ever feel like I accomplished a lot during the past couple of hours! :D Let's see... we now have the "About" page, in which you can learn more about the administrative team, TygrasDB, and myself. ;) There's the "Guides" page, with a sneak peek of three items (and a species *gasp!*). Likewise, there's a sneak peek of the custom demo on the "Tutorials" page. I've begun to add some links to stock photography on the "Resources" page, and there will be more to come over the next couple of days. Finally, I've created four buttons for the "Links" page, as well as links back to Tygras.com and the alpha forums. I'm POOPED! :P
